Way Kuo
Way Kuo is a Taiwanese-American engineer and university administrator. He is currently the President of City University of Hong Kong (CityU), a position he has held since 2008.
Kuo received his B.S. degree from National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Prior to his appointment at CityU, Kuo held faculty positions at Bell Laboratories, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Texas A&M University. His research interests are primarily in the area of reliability engineering, and he has published extensively in the field. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the American Society for Quality (ASQ).
During his tenure as President of CityU, Kuo has focused on promoting research and innovation, internationalization, and professional education. He has overseen significant growth in the university's research output and global rankings. He is known for his advocacy of a strong liberal arts education alongside professional training.
