Deltacom
Deltacom, short for Delta Communications, was a regional telecommunications company serving the southeastern United States, primarily in Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Founded in 1999 through a merger of several smaller independent telephone companies, Deltacom offered a range of services including local telephone, long distance, internet access, and business solutions.
The company focused on providing services to both residential and business customers in areas often underserved by larger national providers. Deltacom expanded its offerings over time to include more advanced technologies such as high-speed internet and data networking solutions.
In 2006, Deltacom was acquired by EarthLink, Inc. Following the acquisition, the Deltacom brand was gradually phased out, and its operations were integrated into EarthLink's broader network and service offerings. Consequently, Deltacom no longer exists as an independent entity. Its legacy, however, lies in its contribution to expanding telecommunications infrastructure and services within its original service area.
