Warriors (band)

Warriors were a British heavy metal band formed in 1980 as an offshoot from the then-disbanded Iron Maiden. Guitarist Tony Parsons, bassist Terry Rance, and drummer Barry Purkis, all former members of Iron Maiden's early lineup, formed the band. Vocalist Nicky Moore, previously of Hackensack and Tiger, completed the original lineup.

Warriors released two studio albums: Warriors (1980) and See How They Run (1982). Their music style was rooted in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) but incorporated elements of blues rock and hard rock. The band toured extensively in the UK and Europe, supporting bands such as Saxon and Girlschool.

Despite gaining a following within the NWOBHM scene, Warriors struggled to achieve mainstream success. Internal disagreements and changing musical trends contributed to their eventual disbandment in the mid-1980s.

After the breakup, members pursued various musical projects. Nicky Moore joined Samson, replacing Chris Aylmer (Tony Moore). Barry Purkis, also known as Thunderstick, continued with his solo work and collaborations with other artists. Terry Rance left the music business. Tony Parsons continued to play in various bands and projects.

While not a major commercial success, Warriors are remembered as a solid and influential band within the NWOBHM movement. Their two albums are still sought after by collectors and fans of the genre.
