SM UB-49
SM UB-49 was a German Type UB II submarine, launched on 20 March 1917 during World War I. She served in the German Imperial Navy and was part of the Flanders Flotilla. UB-49 primarily operated in the English Channel and surrounding waters, engaging in naval warfare and targeting Allied shipping.
UB-49 was responsible for the sinking of several ships during her service. These vessels ranged from smaller fishing boats and merchant ships to larger cargo carriers. Her operations contributed to the overall German U-boat campaign aimed at disrupting Allied supply lines and commerce.
The ultimate fate of SM UB-49 is recorded as sunk on 4 September 1917 in the North Sea after striking a mine. There were no survivors. The location of the wreck remains unknown.
