Vessalico

Vessalico is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Imperia in the Italian region Liguria, located about 90 kilometers southwest of Genoa and about 25 kilometers northeast of Imperia.

Vessalico is known for the production of aglio di Vessalico (Vessalico garlic), a protected designation of origin (PDO) product. The garlic is recognized for its distinct aroma, flavor, and long shelf life.

The village is situated in the Arroscia Valley, an area characterized by olive groves and vineyards. The local economy is primarily based on agriculture, particularly the cultivation of garlic, olives, and grapes.

Historically, Vessalico has been part of various feudal domains before becoming part of the Kingdom of Sardinia and later the Kingdom of Italy. The village retains its medieval architecture and layout.
