Vancouver Grizzlies (football)

The Vancouver Grizzlies were a proposed Canadian Football League (CFL) expansion franchise slated to begin play in 1995 as part of the league's ill-fated American expansion. The team was intended to be based in Vancouver, British Columbia, and would have played at BC Place.

However, the franchise never materialized. Rick Donatelli was named as the general manager, and a head coach was to be announced. Ultimately, the Vancouver ownership group, led by Nelson Skalbania, was unable to finalize stadium lease arrangements and secure the necessary financial backing to launch the team.

The proposed Vancouver Grizzlies name was later used for the National Basketball Association (NBA) expansion team that began play in 1995, after which any potential resurrection of the CFL team under that name became legally difficult. The NBA's Vancouver Grizzlies relocated to Memphis, Tennessee in 2001.
