Usk railway station (Great Western Railway)
Usk railway station was a station located in the town of Usk, Monmouthshire, Wales. It served as a stop on the Coleford, Monmouth, Usk and Pontypool Railway. The station opened in 1857 and closed to passengers in 1955 and to freight in 1959.
The station was situated on the east side of the town, a short distance from the River Usk. It featured a single platform, a station building, and a goods shed. The Great Western Railway (GWR) operated the station throughout its existence.
The line primarily served the agricultural communities in the surrounding area, facilitating the transport of goods and passengers. The station's closure was a result of declining passenger numbers and increased competition from road transport.
The station building has since been demolished and the site has been redeveloped. Little remains of the original station today.
