Star Maps (album)
Star Maps is the debut studio album by the Canadian indie pop band Stars. It was released on October 9, 2001, on Le Grand Magistery label. The album is characterized by its lo-fi production and focuses on themes of love, loss, and urban alienation. Unlike Stars' later, more polished work, Star Maps has a more raw and intimate sound. The album features core band members Torquil Campbell, Chris Seligman, and Amy Millan. The songwriting duties were shared between Campbell and Seligman, with Millan contributing vocals. Star Maps received generally positive reviews, noted for its charmingly imperfect sound and heartfelt lyrics, establishing the foundation for Stars' subsequent success. Key tracks include "Ageless Beauty" and "Going, Going, Gone." The album has since been re-released and remains a notable entry in the band's discography.
