FLEX (protocol)

FLEX, short for "Fast Lexical EXtract," is a one-way paging protocol designed for transmitting messages to pagers. It was developed by Motorola and introduced in the mid-1990s as a successor to earlier paging protocols like POCSAG and Golay Sequential Code. FLEX aimed to improve upon its predecessors in terms of speed, capacity, and power efficiency.

FLEX utilized a synchronous data stream and supported multiple modulation schemes to achieve different data rates and range characteristics. Because of its robustness, FLEX could be utilized even with poorer signal quality.
