Patrick Casey (bishop of Brentwood)
Patrick Casey is an English Roman Catholic prelate who served as the fifth Bishop of Brentwood from 1969 to 1999.
Born on November 20, 1913, and ordained to the priesthood on June 16, 1940, Casey was appointed Bishop of Brentwood on December 2, 1969, and consecrated on January 22, 1970. His episcopate saw significant changes in the Catholic Church following the Second Vatican Council.
During his time as Bishop of Brentwood, Casey focused on implementing the reforms of Vatican II, emphasizing ecumenism, social justice, and lay involvement in the Church. He oversaw the development of educational programs within the diocese and actively participated in national and international Catholic organizations.
He retired as Bishop of Brentwood on November 26, 1999, and died on June 10, 2007.
