Ultima is a fictional character appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics. She is primarily associated with the Squadron Supreme, a team of superheroes that often serves as a pastiche of DC Comics' Justice League.
Publication History
Ultima first appeared in Squadron Supreme #1 (September 1985), created by writer Mark Gruenwald and penciler Bob Hall. She was one of the characters introduced as part of the Squadron Supreme's reformation plan, which aimed to reshape their world into a utopia.
Fictional Character Biography
Ultima is an artificial being created by the government of Earth-712 (the Squadron Supreme's reality) in response to the escalating threats posed by super-powered individuals. She was designed to be the ultimate weapon, a powerful and obedient enforcer.
