Peter Woo
Peter Woo Kwong-ching (Chinese: 吳光正; born 5 December 1946) is a Hong Kong businessman and former chairman of Wheelock and Company and The Wharf (Holdings) Limited.
Woo is the son of shipping magnate Y.K. Pao. He received a bachelor's degree in physics and mathematics from the University of Cincinnati and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
Woo joined his father-in-law's World-Wide Shipping Group in 1973 and later became chairman of Wheelock Marden & Co. Ltd. He restructured Wheelock and acquired The Wharf (Holdings) in 1986. He served as chairman of both Wheelock and Wharf until his retirement in 2015, passing the reins to his son, Douglas Woo.
During his tenure, Woo oversaw significant growth and diversification of the Wheelock and Wharf groups, particularly in property development, communications, media and entertainment, and infrastructure. Key properties developed under his leadership include Harbour City and Times Square in Hong Kong.
Woo is also actively involved in philanthropy and public service. He is a supporter of education and has served on various advisory boards and committees in Hong Kong.
