GBH (band)

GBH, also known as Charged GBH, is an English street punk band formed in 1978 in Birmingham, England. They are considered one of the forerunners of the UK82 sound and remain active, touring and recording.

The original lineup consisted of Colin Abrahall on vocals, Colin "Jock" Blyth on guitar, Sean McCarthy on bass, and Andy "Wilf" Williams on drums. This lineup remained consistent for several decades, making them notable for their stability in a genre often characterized by frequent member changes.

GBH's music is characterized by its raw, aggressive sound, politically charged lyrics, and fast tempos. Their songs often address issues such as police brutality, social inequality, and the bleak realities of working-class life. Their debut album, City Baby Attacked by Rats (1982), is considered a seminal album in the UK punk scene.

Throughout their career, GBH has released numerous studio albums, live albums, and EPs. They have toured extensively worldwide, building a dedicated following. Despite the changing landscape of punk rock, GBH has maintained a consistent sound and message, solidifying their status as a legendary band in the genre.
