Sansare
Sansare is a historical village located in the northern part of present-day Senegal, in the Fouta Toro region. It is significant in the history of the Toucouleur people and the Almamate of Futa Toro, a theocratic state that existed from the late 18th century to the late 19th century. Sansare played a role as a center of Islamic learning and political activity within the region. While not a major urban center, it held local importance within the network of villages and communities that comprised the Almamate. Historical sources often mention Sansare in relation to notable figures and events connected to the religious and political life of Futa Toro. Its relevance stems primarily from its connection to the broader history of the region and the Almamate's influence.
