USS Whippet (IX-129)
USS Whippet (IX-129) was an unclassified miscellaneous vessel of the United States Navy during World War II. She was originally a civilian yacht, built as Hi-Esmaro. Acquired by the Navy and placed in service in 1942, she served primarily in the Caribbean area.
Details regarding Whippet's service are sparse, but it is known she performed duties related to coastal patrol and anti-submarine warfare training. She operated in support of naval activities in the region, likely supporting training exercises and potentially participating in some aspects of convoy escort.
Whippet was decommissioned and struck from the Naval Vessel Register in 1944. Her final disposition is not definitively recorded in publicly available sources, but it is presumed she was sold or otherwise disposed of following her decommissioning.
