USS Tripoli (CVE-64)

The USS Tripoli (CVE-64) was a Casablanca-class escort carrier of the United States Navy. She was named for the Battle of Derna in Tripoli during the First Barbary War. Commissioned in October 1943, Tripoli served primarily in the Pacific Theater of World War II, participating in anti-submarine warfare patrols and providing air support for various amphibious landings, including those at Leyte and Luzon. She was part of Task Group 22.3, a hunter-killer group tasked with finding and destroying German U-boats operating in the Atlantic early in her service. After the war, Tripoli was decommissioned in August 1946 and placed in reserve. She was eventually sold for scrap in 1960. Throughout her service, she earned numerous battle stars for her contributions to the war effort. Her service record reflects the critical role escort carriers played in both the Atlantic and Pacific campaigns during World War II.
