USS Stag

The USS Stag was a name used for at least two ships in the United States Navy. Both were named for the male deer, commonly known for their antlers.

The first USS Stag was a yacht, USS Stag (SP-326), acquired by the Navy during World War I. It was commissioned in 1917 and used for patrol duties along the East Coast of the United States. The yacht was returned to its owner after the war in 1919.

The second USS Stag was a patrol frigate, USS Stag (PF-93), originally classified as a patrol gunboat (PG-187). It was laid down but never completed. Construction was cancelled in 1944 before the vessel was launched.
