USS Meade (DD-602)

USS Meade (DD-602) was a Benson-class destroyer in the United States Navy during World War II. Named for Rear Admiral Richard Worsam Meade II, she was commissioned on 22 September 1942.

Meade participated extensively in the Pacific Theater of World War II. Her duties included convoy escort, anti-submarine patrols, and providing fire support for amphibious landings. She saw action in numerous campaigns, including operations in the Solomon Islands, New Guinea, and the Philippines. She was also involved in the Battle of Leyte Gulf.

Meade received multiple battle stars for her service during World War II. Following the war, she was decommissioned and placed in reserve. She was eventually scrapped in the early 1970s.
