USCGC Hamilton (WHEC-715)
USCGC Hamilton (WHEC-715) was a United States Coast Guard High Endurance Cutter, the first of its class of twelve ships. She was commissioned on March 18, 1967, and decommissioned on March 28, 2011. Hamilton was named for Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury and the driving force behind the creation of the Revenue Cutter Service, a precursor to the Coast Guard.
As a High Endurance Cutter, Hamilton was primarily utilized for long-range law enforcement, search and rescue, maritime defense, and homeland security missions. She possessed a flight deck capable of supporting helicopter operations, enhancing her capabilities in these areas. Throughout her service, Hamilton participated in numerous deployments, including patrols in the Bering Sea, drug interdiction efforts in the Caribbean Sea and Eastern Pacific Ocean, and fisheries enforcement in the North Atlantic.
Following her decommissioning from the U.S. Coast Guard, Hamilton was transferred to the Philippine Navy in 2011 and renamed BRP Gregorio del Pilar (PS-15). She continues to serve as one of the Philippine Navy's flagship vessels.
