Christian González (footballer)

Christian González (born June 30, 2002) is an American football cornerback for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL).

Early Life and High School

González was born in Carrollton, Texas. He attended The Colony High School, where he played both football and track. He was a highly-rated recruit and one of the top cornerbacks in his class.

College Career

González initially committed to play college football at Colorado. He played for the Colorado Buffaloes from 2020 to 2021. In 2022, he transferred to the University of Oregon to play for the Oregon Ducks. He had a successful season at Oregon, earning All-Pac-12 honors and establishing himself as a top prospect for the NFL Draft.

Professional Career

González was drafted by the New England Patriots in the first round (17th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft. He signed his rookie contract with the team on May 11, 2023. He quickly became a starter for the Patriots, showcasing his talent and potential.

Playing Style

González is known for his athleticism, size, and coverage skills. He is a physical cornerback who excels in press coverage and has the speed and agility to cover receivers deep downfield. He is also a willing tackler and is considered a well-rounded defensive back.
