Twice Upon a Time (1983 film)

Twice Upon a Time is a 1983 American animated fantasy-comedy film directed by John Korty and Charles Swenson. It is notable for being one of the first films to utilize "Lumage," a form of dimensional animation using pre-cut, movable plastic figures against backlit, textured backgrounds.

The film centers around the characters of Ralph, a daydreaming inventor, and Mumford, a green alien horse-like creature. They are tasked with saving Din, the world of dreams, from the evil Synonamess Botch, who plans to turn everyone's dreams into nightmares using his Phonomenal Forecastor.

The plot involves Ralph and Mumford traveling to the Murkworks, Botch's headquarters, and encountering a variety of surreal characters along the way, including the Rushers, who control the flow of time, and Flora Fauna, a beautiful and powerful Dinizen. The film features wordplay, puns, and absurdist humor.

The film was initially rated PG but was later re-rated as suitable for all ages. Despite its unique animation style and creative storyline, Twice Upon a Time was not a commercial success upon its initial release.
