Chester Place

Originally developed in 1899 by wealthy entrepreneur George Stimson, Chester Place was envisioned as an exclusive enclave for prominent Angelenos. Stimson himself resided in the grandest mansion on the street, now known as the Stimson House. The street's design, with its private gate and meticulously landscaped grounds, reinforced its air of exclusivity and security.

Many of the mansions on Chester Place were designed by renowned architects of the era, showcasing a variety of architectural styles including Queen Anne, Victorian, and Romanesque Revival. These homes were occupied by leading figures in Los Angeles society, including industrialists, merchants, and professionals.

Over the years, Chester Place has served as a filming location for numerous movies and television shows, capitalizing on its preserved historical appearance and opulent residences. The street is a designated Historic Preservation Overlay Zone (HPOZ) in Los Angeles, ensuring the preservation of its architectural character and historical significance.
