Twang (band)
Twang were a British indie rock band formed in Birmingham, England, in 2001. The band consisted of Phil Etheridge (vocals), Jon Watkins (guitar), Martin Saunders (keyboards), Stu Hartland (bass guitar), and Mat Welsh (drums).
Twang gained popularity in the mid-2000s with their anthemic sound and lyrics often focusing on working-class life. They were known for their energetic live performances and their ability to connect with audiences.
Their debut album, Love It When I Feel Like This, was released in 2007 and reached number 3 on the UK Albums Chart. It featured singles such as "Either Way," "Wide Awake," and "Two Lovers."
The band released two further studio albums: Jewellery Quarter (2009) and NEAT (2014). While they maintained a dedicated fanbase, subsequent albums did not achieve the same commercial success as their debut.
Twang toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe, playing at numerous festivals and venues. The band's music has been described as a blend of indie rock, Britpop, and garage rock influences.
The band officially split in 2018, though individual members have remained active in other musical projects.
