Rab Noakes

Rab Noakes (13 May 1947 – 11 November 2022) was a Scottish singer-songwriter, guitarist, and broadcaster. Born Robert Noakes in Fife, Scotland, he was a significant figure in the Scottish folk and contemporary music scene for over five decades.

Noakes began his musical career in the 1960s, initially performing with the band The Trend. He later embarked on a solo career, releasing a string of albums showcasing his songwriting talent and distinctive vocal style. He was known for his interpretations of traditional Scottish songs, as well as his own original compositions. His music spanned genres including folk, rock, and country.

Notable albums include "Rab Noakes" (1970), "Do You See The Lights?" (1970), and "Restless" (1978). He collaborated with numerous other musicians throughout his career, including Barbara Dickson, Gerry Rafferty, and Lindisfarne.
