TrES-2A

TrES-2A is the designation for the primary star in the binary star system that also includes the hot Jupiter exoplanet TrES-2b. It is a G-type star, similar in mass and temperature to our Sun, but slightly older. Located approximately 750 light-years away in the constellation Draco, TrES-2A is the brighter and more massive component of the pair. While TrES-2A is responsible for the illumination and gravitational influence on its planet, TrES-2b, less is known about the fainter companion star in the system. Further observations are required to fully characterize the properties and potential influence of the secondary star on the TrES-2 system. The system is of significant interest due to the extreme properties of the exoplanet TrES-2b, which is one of the darkest exoplanets discovered to date, reflecting very little light.
