Too Much Too Soon (album)

Too Much Too Soon is the second studio album by the American hard rock band the New York Dolls, released in May 1974 by Mercury Records. It followed their self-titled debut album from the previous year.

The album, produced by Shadow Morton (known for his work with the Shangri-Las), aimed for a more polished and commercially accessible sound than their raucous debut. However, it ultimately failed to achieve significant commercial success, peaking at number 167 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

While Too Much Too Soon is not generally considered as influential as their first album, it still showcases the band's signature blend of proto-punk, glam rock, and raw energy. It features a mix of original songs and covers, including a version of Archie Bell & the Drells' "I'm Gonna Get You." Key tracks include "Babylon," "Stranded in the Jungle," and "Puss 'n' Boots."

The album's artwork features a photograph of the band in full glam regalia. Despite its initial commercial failure, Too Much Too Soon has since been recognized as a notable entry in the New York Dolls' discography and a reflection of the band's evolving sound. The album is also notable for being the band's last studio album before their initial breakup in 1976.
