Oldcodex

Oldcodex was a Japanese rock band, formed in 2009. The group consisted primarily of Tatsuhisa Suzuki, known by his stage name Ta_2 (vocalist), and YORKE., an artist who handled lyrics, composition, and painting for their album artwork and live performances. Their music is characterized by a blend of alternative rock, hard rock, and electronica, often incorporating YORKE.'s distinctive abstract art into their visual identity.

Oldcodex was signed to Lantis, a record label specializing in anime and game music. This association led to the band performing theme songs for numerous popular anime series, which significantly contributed to their recognition and popularity. Some of their most notable anime tie-ins include Free!, SERVAMP, God Eater, Arata Kangatari, and Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans.

The band officially disbanded in March 2022. The announcement cited personal circumstances and a desire for individual members to pursue separate artistic endeavors as the reasons for the split. Prior to their disbandment, Oldcodex released numerous albums, singles, and live concert DVDs, solidifying their position as a significant force in the Japanese rock scene and anime music industry. Their music continues to be enjoyed by fans worldwide.
