Tony Anthony (actor)

Tony Anthony (born October 16, 1937, Clarksburg, West Virginia) is an American actor, producer, screenwriter, and director, primarily known for his work in Spaghetti Westerns during the 1960s and 1970s.

Anthony gained international recognition for his role as the Stranger, a mysterious and often violent gunslinger, in a series of four films: A Stranger in Town (1967), The Stranger Returns (1968), The Silent Stranger (1968), and Get Mean (1975). He also starred in and produced other Westerns such as Blindman (1971).

Beyond his acting roles, Anthony was a significant force behind the scenes, often writing and producing his own films. He was also known for his legal battles related to the Blindman film, which he claimed influenced the creation of the Zatoichi film series.

Later in his career, Anthony moved away from acting to focus on producing films, including Comin' at Ya! (1981), a 3D Western that helped revive the 3D film format.
