Titov Vrv
Titov Vrv (Macedonian: Титов Врв, Albanian: Turk i Madh) is the highest peak in the Šar Mountains, located in North Macedonia. Its elevation is 2,530 meters (8,297 feet) above sea level. The peak lies within the boundaries of the Šar Mountains National Park.
The name "Titov Vrv" translates to "Tito's Peak." It was named in 1953 after Josip Broz Tito, the president of Yugoslavia. Prior to 1953, the peak was known as Голем Турчин (Golem Turčin), meaning "Big Turk" in Macedonian. While North Macedonia became independent in 1991, the name "Titov Vrv" has persisted, although there have been proposals to revert to the historical name of Golem Turčin.
Titov Vrv is a popular destination for hikers and mountaineers, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. It is accessible via several trails, with varying degrees of difficulty. The peak is typically snow-covered for a significant portion of the year. A weather station is situated near the summit.
