Nerl (Klyazma)

It has a length of 288 kilometers and a drainage basin of 6,780 square kilometers. The river's source is in the southeast of the Yaroslavl Oblast. It generally flows southwest, joining the Klyazma River.

The river is fed primarily by snowmelt. The Nerl (Klyazma) freezes up in November or December and remains icebound until April. Navigation is not commercially viable on the Nerl (Klyazma) due to its relatively shallow depth and winding course. The banks of the river are primarily rural, with some small villages and agricultural land. The area around the Nerl (Klyazma) is popular for recreational fishing and boating.
