The Black Dahlia Murder (band)
The Black Dahlia Murder is an American melodic death metal band from Waterford, Michigan, formed in 2001. The band is named after the unsolved 1947 murder of Elizabeth Short, often referred to as the Black Dahlia.
The band's lineup has changed several times over the years, but their core sound has remained relatively consistent, characterized by aggressive, high-energy performances, intricate guitar work, and guttural vocals. The Black Dahlia Murder is known for blending traditional melodic death metal elements with influences from deathcore and grindcore.
The Black Dahlia Murder has released numerous studio albums, including Unhallowed (2003), Miasma (2005), Nocturnal (2007), Deflorate (2009), Ritual (2011), Everblack (2013), Abysmal (2015), Nightbringers (2017), and Verminous (2020). They have toured extensively worldwide, playing festivals and headlining shows.
Following the death of vocalist Trevor Strnad in 2022, the band went on hiatus. In 2023, they announced their return with guitarist Brian Eschbach taking over vocal duties.
