The Sea Wolf (1997 film)
The Sea Wolf is a 1997 television film adaptation of Jack London's 1904 novel of the same name. It stars Christopher Reeve as Wolf Larsen, the brutal and intellectual captain of the schooner Ghost. The film follows Humphrey Van Weyden (Charles Haid), a cultured intellectual who is rescued from a shipwreck by the Ghost and forced into servitude by Larsen. He witnesses Larsen's cruelty and develops survival skills while navigating the challenging and dangerous environment of the sea. The film also features Stacy Keach as "Death" Larsen, Wolf's brother. Unlike some other adaptations, this version adheres relatively closely to the plot and themes of London's novel, exploring themes of individualism, power, morality, and the struggle for survival. The film originally aired on TNT.
