The Remains (band)

The Remains were an American garage rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, formed in 1964 and active until 1966. Led by Barry Tashian (vocals, guitar), the band also included Bill Briggs (keyboards), Chip Damiani (drums), and Vern Miller (bass).

The Remains gained a strong local following in the Boston area, known for their energetic live performances and raw, blues-influenced sound. They secured a residency at a popular local club, The Rathskeller, which further cemented their reputation.

Their recorded output was relatively limited during their active period, primarily consisting of a self-titled album released in 1966 on Epic Records. The album, now considered a garage rock classic, featured strong original compositions such as "Don't Look Back," "Diddy Wah Diddy," and "Why Do I Cry."

Despite their talent and regional success, The Remains were unable to achieve widespread national recognition. They opened for The Beatles during their 1966 American tour, a significant opportunity, but ultimately disbanded shortly thereafter.

The band's music has seen a resurgence in popularity over the years, with their album being reissued and their influence acknowledged by subsequent generations of musicians. The Remains are now regarded as one of the most important and influential garage rock bands of the 1960s.
