The Morning After (1986 film)

The Morning After is a 1986 American neo-noir mystery thriller film directed by Sidney Lumet and starring Jane Fonda, Jeff Bridges, and Raul Julia.

The film follows Alex Sternbergen (Fonda), an alcoholic actress who wakes up one morning next to a murdered man with no memory of the previous night. Believing herself to be the killer, she seeks help from Turner Kendall (Bridges), a former cop. Together, they attempt to unravel the mystery and clear Alex's name while evading the police and the real killer.

The screenplay was written by James Hicks and based on a story by James Hicks and Joyce Buñuel. The film explores themes of addiction, paranoia, and the search for redemption within the backdrop of a murder mystery. Jane Fonda received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for her performance.
