The Bridge (Canadian TV series)
The Bridge is a Canadian police procedural drama television series that aired on CTV and CBS. It starred Aaron Douglas as Frank Leo, the charismatic and unconventional head of the police union, and Michael Murphy as Don Kowalski, the veteran police superintendent.
The series focused on the tension between Leo's populist approach to police work and Kowalski's more traditional, bureaucratic style. Each episode typically involved a complex crime investigation while simultaneously exploring the political maneuvering within the police force and the personal lives of the officers. Leo's efforts to protect his officers and fight for their rights often put him at odds with the city council, the media, and even Kowalski himself. The show tackled themes of police corruption, ethical dilemmas, and the challenges of maintaining order in a rapidly changing urban environment.
The series premiered in 2010 and was cancelled after two seasons. While critically acclaimed for its gritty realism and strong performances, it struggled to find a consistent audience. The first season consisted of 13 episodes, and the second season consisted of 9 episodes. Key recurring cast members included Paul Popowich, Inga Cadranel, Ona Grauer, Frank Cassini, and Theresa Joy.
