Tempest (1949 film)

Tempest is a 1949 Italian historical drama film directed by Riccardo Freda. It is also known as Il Uragano (The Hurricane).

The film is based on the 1836 novel The Captain's Daughter by Alexander Pushkin, although the title reflects the more dramatic elements of the story. The plot revolves around Pyotr Grinyov, a young nobleman sent to serve in a remote fort, and his interactions with Emelyan Pugachev, a Cossack who leads a major peasant rebellion against Catherine the Great.
