Ted Allen

Ted Allen (born May 20, 1965) is an American television personality, author, and food and wine expert. He is best known as the host of the Food Network's Chopped, as well as the former food and wine specialist on the Bravo network's Queer Eye.

Allen began his career in journalism, writing about food and wine for publications such as Chicago magazine. He later became a contributing editor at Esquire magazine, where he wrote the "Things a Man Should Know" column.

His television career began with Queer Eye, where he provided expertise on food and wine pairings, entertaining, and culinary techniques. Following the success of Queer Eye, he hosted several other food-related television shows, including Iron Chef America, Best Thing I Ever Ate, and America's Best Cook.

Allen is the author of several cookbooks, including The Food You Want to Eat: 100 Smart, Simple Recipes and In My Kitchen: 100 Recipes and Discoveries for Passionate Cooks. He has received several awards for his work, including a James Beard Award for his television show, Chopped.

Allen is openly gay and has been a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. He resides in Brooklyn, New York, with his husband, Barry Rice.
