Target Earth (film)
Target Earth is a 1954 independently made American black-and-white science fiction film, produced by Herman Cohen, directed by Sherman A. Rose, and starring Virginia Grey and Richard Denning. The film was distributed by Allied Artists Pictures Corporation.
The film centers on a small group of people who find themselves the only survivors in a deserted Chicago after the city has been evacuated. They soon discover that giant robots are responsible, and these robots are systematically killing anyone they find. The survivors must band together to find a way to defeat the robots before they are all destroyed.
The movie is noted for its low budget, use of stock footage, and somewhat clunky robot designs. Despite its limitations, "Target Earth" has gained a cult following over the years due to its earnest tone and classic science fiction themes of alien invasion and humanity's resilience. It is considered a minor but notable entry in the 1950s science fiction film genre.
