Tanya (horse)

Tanya was a Thoroughbred racehorse foaled in 1902 in the United States. She was known primarily for winning the 1905 Belmont Stakes.

Tanya was owned and bred by August Belmont Jr., at his Nursery Stud in Lexington, Kentucky. She was sired by Meddler, out of the mare Handspun.

Her victory in the Belmont Stakes, a prestigious American Classic race, was particularly notable because she was ridden by a female jockey, Frank O'Neill, making her the first filly to win the race with a female rider. This achievement helped challenge gender stereotypes within the sport of horse racing.
