We of the Never Never (film)

We of the Never Never is a 1982 Australian drama film directed by Igor Auzins and starring Angela Punch McGregor, Arthur Dignam, and Tony Barry. It is based on the 1908 autobiographical novel We of the Never Never by Jeannie Gunn. The film tells the story of Jeannie Gunn (McGregor), a young woman who moves from Melbourne to the remote Elsey cattle station in the Northern Territory of Australia in 1902 to marry Aeneas Gunn (Dignam), the station manager.

The film portrays Jeannie's adaptation to the harsh conditions and isolation of the outback, and her relationships with the station workers, local Aboriginal people, and other settlers. She becomes known as "the Missus" and gradually earns the respect of those around her.
