HMS Carysfort (1836)

HMS Carysfort was a sixth-rate, 26-gun frigate of the Royal Navy, launched in 1836. She was built at Chatham Dockyard, England, to a design by Sir William Symonds.

Carysfort was primarily employed in patrolling and general duties on various overseas stations, including the Mediterranean and the East Indies. During her service, she was involved in anti-slavery patrols off the coast of Africa, intercepting ships suspected of engaging in the slave trade.

Her armament consisted of 26 guns, typically including medium-sized cannons and carronades. As a sixth-rate frigate, she was smaller and less heavily armed than larger first to fifth-rate vessels but still provided a significant naval presence.

Details of her active service record are limited, typical for many ships of this class engaged in routine duties rather than major battles. She was eventually disposed of, marking the end of her service in the Royal Navy.
