Zourafa

The term "Zourafa" is an older, less common term for "giraffe." It is derived from the Arabic word "zurāfah" (زرافة), which itself is thought to originate from an earlier Persian word. Historically, "Zourafa" was used more frequently in the medieval period and in certain academic or literary contexts to refer to the animal, particularly when discussing its historical perception or introduction to Europe. Its usage has largely been superseded by the more common term "giraffe" in modern English. While "giraffe" is the standard term now, "Zourafa" still occasionally appears, often to evoke a sense of historical context or specialized knowledge related to the animal's etymology or historical accounts.
