Tang Wei
Tang Wei (湯唯, born October 7, 1979) is a Chinese actress. She is primarily known for her work in film and has received international acclaim for her performances.
Tang Wei gained widespread recognition for her role in Ang Lee's 2007 film Lust, Caution, which won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. While the film brought her international fame, it also led to a temporary ban from Chinese media due to its controversial content.
Following the ban, Tang Wei relocated to Hong Kong and continued her acting career, appearing in films such as Crossing Hennessy (2010), Late Autumn (2010) with Hyun Bin (for which she won multiple Best Actress awards), Wu Xia (2011), Finding Mr. Right (2013), Blackhat (2015), Finding Mr. Right 2: Book of Love (2016), and Decision to Leave (2022), which earned her the Best Actress award at the 75th Cannes Film Festival.
Tang Wei is considered one of the most talented and respected actresses in contemporary Chinese cinema and has worked with numerous acclaimed directors. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, English, and Korean.
