Shakira

Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll (born February 2, 1977), known professionally as Shakira, is a Colombian singer, songwriter, dancer, and record producer. Born and raised in Barranquilla, she is noted for her versatility in music and her signature belly dancing moves.

Shakira began performing in school, demonstrating Latin American, Arabic, and rock and roll influences. She released her first two albums, Magia and Peligro, in the early 1990s, achieving moderate success in Colombia. Her breakthrough came in Latin America with the album Pies Descalzos in 1995, which featured her signature Latin pop sound.

In 2001, Shakira crossed over to the English-language market with her album Laundry Service, selling over 13 million copies worldwide. The album spawned the international hit singles "Whenever, Wherever" and "Underneath Your Clothes". Since then, she has consistently released commercially successful albums in both Spanish and English, including Fijación Oral, Vol. 1, Oral Fixation, Vol. 2, She Wolf, and Sale el Sol.

Shakira's music incorporates various genres, including Latin pop, rock, dance, and world music. She is also known for her philanthropic work through her Pies Descalzos Foundation, which provides education and nutrition to underprivileged children in Colombia and other countries. She has won numerous awards throughout her career, including three Grammy Awards, thirteen Latin Grammy Awards, and seven Billboard Music Awards. Shakira is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with estimated sales of over 80 million records worldwide.
