Tad Lucas

Tad Lucas (born Rose Smith; 1902 – 1990) was an American rodeo performer, trick rider, and entertainer. She is considered one of the greatest female rodeo stars of all time, known for her daring stunts and horsemanship.

Lucas began performing at a young age and quickly gained recognition for her skill and courage. She competed in a variety of rodeo events, including bronc riding, trick riding, and relay races. Her signature move was the "Hippodrome Race," where she would stand astride two horses simultaneously while they raced around the arena.

Lucas won numerous championships throughout her career, including the World Champion Lady Trick and Fancy Rider title several times. She was inducted into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame in 1967 and the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in 2007.

Beyond her competitive success, Lucas was a popular entertainer, touring with Wild West shows and performing at rodeos across the United States. She was known for her charisma and showmanship, making her a beloved figure among rodeo fans. Her contributions helped to pave the way for future generations of female rodeo athletes.
