TNA Lockdown (2012)
TNA Lockdown (2012) was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). It took place on May 13, 2012, at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. It was the eighth event under the Lockdown chronology.
Lockdown's unique concept is that all matches take place inside a steel cage. The 2012 event continued this tradition, featuring a card of matches where competitors were locked inside a six-sided steel structure.
The main event featured a Lethal Lockdown match between Team Garett (Garett Bischoff, Austin Aries, Mr. Anderson, and AJ Styles) and Team Eric (Eric Bischoff, Kazarian, Christopher Daniels, and Gunner). Other notable matches included a TNA World Heavyweight Championship match between defending champion Bobby Roode and challenger Jeff Hardy, and a TNA World Tag Team Championship match between defending champions Magnus and Samoa Joe and challengers The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin).
The event marked a significant point in several ongoing storylines within TNA, and included the usual high-stakes action associated with the Lockdown theme. Its reception was mixed, with some praising the in-ring action and others criticizing the storyline development leading up to the event.
