Hue (video game)
Hue is a puzzle-adventure video game developed by Fiddlesticks and published by Curve Digital. It was released in August 2016 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Later, it was released for iOS in July 2017.
The game's core mechanic revolves around the player's ability to alter the background color of the world, causing objects of matching colors to blend into the background, effectively disappearing. This allows the player to solve puzzles by traversing areas that would otherwise be impassable.
The narrative focuses on the protagonist, Hue, who is searching for his missing mother, a scientist who disappeared while experimenting with colors. Throughout his journey, Hue finds letters from his mother that explain the science behind her research and provide clues to her whereabouts. He gradually acquires the ability to perceive and manipulate more colors as he progresses through the game.
Hue features a minimalist art style, primarily utilizing shades of gray until the player unlocks the ability to introduce color into the environment. The gameplay emphasizes logical problem-solving and spatial reasoning. The game also features a soundtrack that adapts to the player's actions and the colors currently active in the environment.
