TASC (think tank)

TASC (also stylized as TASC) most commonly refers to the The Analytic Sciences Corporation, a now-defunct American defense contractor and think tank. Founded in 1966, TASC provided systems engineering, analysis, and technical expertise to the U.S. government, primarily within the defense and intelligence communities.

TASC's work spanned a wide range of areas, including national security, space exploration, and information technology. Its expertise was often sought for complex problem-solving and strategic planning related to advanced technologies and defense systems. TASC was known for its deep technical expertise and its ability to provide objective, data-driven advice.

Over the years, TASC underwent several ownership changes and restructurings. In 2009, it was acquired by Engility Corporation. The TASC name eventually ceased to be used, and the functions of the former company were integrated into Engility and later, after Engility's acquisition, into Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC).

While the original TASC no longer exists as a standalone entity, its legacy continues to influence the defense and intelligence sectors through the contributions of its former employees and the methodologies it developed. The name "TASC" may still be encountered in historical documents and discussions related to U.S. defense and intelligence activities from the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
