Stob (village)

Stob is a village in southwestern Bulgaria, located in Kocherinovo Municipality, Kyustendil Province. The village is situated at the foot of the Rila Mountains, approximately 83 kilometers south of Sofia and 18 kilometers east of Kyustendil.

The village is known for the Stob Earth Pyramids (Стобски пирамиди), a natural rock formation that attracts tourists. These unique geological structures are composed of sandstone and conglomerate, shaped by erosion over millennia. They vary in height, some reaching up to 12 meters. The Stob Earth Pyramids were declared a natural landmark in 1964.

Historically, the area has been inhabited since ancient times. While Stob itself is relatively small, the surrounding region is rich in history and cultural heritage. The local economy is primarily based on agriculture, tourism, and small businesses. The village offers guesthouses and other tourist facilities to accommodate visitors interested in exploring the Earth Pyramids and the surrounding Rila Mountain region.
