Sterup

Sterup is a village and former municipality in the Kreis Schleswig-Flensburg, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Since March 1, 2013, it is part of the municipality Gelting. Sterup is situated approximately 20 km northeast of Schleswig and 25 km southeast of Flensburg, in the Angeln peninsula. The village has a primarily rural character. Historical records provide information on the village's development over several centuries, indicating its involvement in the region's agricultural and social structures. The former municipality encompassed several smaller settlements and farmsteads.
